The Department of Korean Literature in Classical Chinese was established in 1989 on the purposes of proper researches on Korean culture and of nurturing talents who can create the new culture of the nation. A total number of 120 students are studying in the undergraduate program(the fixed number of new undergraduate students is 30), and now, with the newly established programs of master's course for Education(the classical Chinese teaching major) in the graduate school for education, master's and doctoral courses in the general graduate school and master's and doctoral combined courses, the Department is putting efforts for providing the professional research scholars with a better environment for overall research activities and the training and reeducation of classical Chinese teachers.
Classical Chinese Studies researches the classical Asian literature written in classical Chinese. The Department of Korean Literature in Classical Chinese, PNU, is inviting and selecting outstanding high school graduates and senior undergraduates to work in various academic projects like the translation and annotation of Yijaenango, The 2nd Stage of BK21, HK Classics Translation Project and others and also in other project teams to be launched, that they can eventually be prepared as the Classical Chinese Classics Translation and Classical Contents Planning Experts.
And the Department is running various programs which can help students in choosing jobs fit to their personalities and aptitudes, for those who are interested in working as company workers, government officials, teachers in school, founders of an enterprise and others, also offering financial benefits as real and substantial support to the students who have decided their courses to take, via routes like Job Preparing dong-aa-riis.
